Your Body Knows: How to Read the Emotional Signals Within

Edition 2025.07.24

In this issue: If you’re struggling to access clarity, motivation, or peace, it may not be a mindset issue—it may be an emotional one. This week, discover how your body reveals what your mind hasn’t yet processed. Emotions aren’t obstacles; they’re messengers. Learn how to interpret them to unlock greater resilience, clarity, and alignment.

Featuring insights from Judith, Bob, and the LiveWright Team.

Emotions: Your Brain's Native Intelligence
Your emotions aren't distractions—they're guidance. Discover how emotional intelligence can sharpen your decision-making, deepen your presence, and return you to what matters.

For years, I led with logic. I knew how to get results—but I didn’t always feel connected to them. That changed when I learned what neuroscience now confirms: your emotions are not distractions—they’re a form of intelligency your brain needs to make good decisions.

Antonio Damasio, a leading neuroscientist, discovered that patients who lost the ability to feel emotion also lost the ability to make choices. Without emotion, reason has no compass.

Your emotions are not irrational. They are richly encoded signals that help you navigate meaning, risk, intuition, and connection. And they begin in the body before they register in the mind.

I’ve seen this with high-level women leaders again and again. When they begin to trust their emotional signals, their intuition sharpens. Their relationships deepen. And their decisions become faster and wiser.

🌟 Try This 3-Step Emotional Reframe:

1. Pause. Place one hand on your chest or belly. Take three breaths.

2. Name what you’re feeling—no judgment. “I feel overwhelmed.” “I feel hopeful.”

3. Ask your emotion, What are you here to tell me?
Listen. It may reveal a need, a boundary, or a desire that’s been waiting for your attention.

If you’re ready to reclaim your emotional power, we’re ready to walk with you. Book your clarity call here.

One More Thought:
You’re not too emotional. You’re profoundly attuned. Honor that—and you’ll access the kind of wisdom no strategy alone can unlock.

Emotional Signals: What Your Body's Been Trying to Tell You
You don’t need to guess what you feel—your body already knows. Learn to read its emotional language to lead with presence, resilience, and real-time wisdom.

One of the first questions I ask a client when they’re overwhelmed is: “Where do you feel that in your body?” They often say, “My stomach,” or “My head.” But I push further. Because emotional signals aren’t just single location events—they’re full body messages waiting to be decoded.

Take a recent client—a founder juggling growth, team conflict, and a major product pivot. He told me he felt “tense all over.” But when we slowed down and scanned his body, he noticed a heat in his neck (anger), a tight chest (anxiety), and clenched fists (unexpressed urgency). Those signals weren’t random, they were trying to guide him. Once he named what he felt, he was able to take aligned action with clarity and calm.

Here’s what we know:
Before your mind catches up, your nervous system already has. The body reacts in milliseconds—tightening, clenching, freezing, or expanding. If you ignore it, you risk living on emotional autopilot.

But when you train yourself to notice, name, and work with your body’s emotional cues? You reclaim your power.

🌟 Try This: The 2-Minute Emotional Body Scan

1. Sit comfortably. Take 3 slow, deep breaths.

2. Consciously scan your body from head to toe. Where do you feel pressure, heat, emptiness, or activation?

3. Name the sensation. (“There’s tension in my jaw—maybe frustration.”)

4. Ask: What might I need right now? What is this emotion asking me to notice or change?

The Truth in the Tension: Leading from Emotional Awareness
Every emotion has a message. When you learn to listen, you begin to lead differently—more truthfully, more powerfully, more alive.

Whether you’re navigating a hard decision, preparing for  tough conversation, or simply trying to make space for yourself in a chaotic week—your emotions are already guiding you.

Too often, leaders override these cues. You ignore the headache, power through the frustration, minimize the fear. But emotions ignored become problems compounded. You end up reacting instead of responding, surviving instead of evolving.

Here’s what we’ve see: The most effective leaders aren’t those who hide their emotions. They the ones who use them as fuel.

🌟 Try This: Your Emotional Leadership Starter Kit

1. At the end of each day, write down the strongest emotion you felt.

2.Name what triggered it—and what it was trying to signal.

3. Ask: If I had responded from awareness instead of reactivity, what would I have done differently?

This practice will help you begin to consciously register your emotions, leading toward real time acknowledgment and response.
