CAUTION

It’s time to face the truth: we need to clean up our own shit.

Responsibility, the sixth principle in our series on transformation, demands we stop making excuses. We can no longer point fingers at others or blame circumstances when we fall short of living up to our highest standards. Our lives are the result of our choices, and whether we like it or not, we are the architects of our own experience.

We don’t mean you created every single mess (a meteor through the roof isn’t on you!), but more often than not, we’ve had a hand in shaping the situations we find ourselves in. So it’s time to stop playing the blame game—including against yourself—and start looking at life with clear eyes. That’s where real responsibility begins.

This is where we step into true partnership with life. We’re not just passive observers; we’re engaged, alive, and taking part in what unfolds. We saw this with the principle of aliveness—being fully present and aware. Now, we take that aliveness and turn it into intentional action. Intention isn’t just about setting big goals. It’s about catching those unconscious decisions we make, too—the ones that shape our outcomes without us even realizing.

We’ve been challenged to live by the truth of our experience and hold ourselves to our highest vision. This means we have to stop avoiding the hard conversations, face the uncomfortable truths, and stand up for ourselves and what we believe in.

When we talked about commitment, we saw that our lives are a reflection of what we’ve committed to—whether consciously or not. And honestly? Some of those unconscious commitments keep us stuck in victimhood. But that’s not where we’re headed. It’s time to commit to something bigger, something clearer, something that lets our life force flow through us without obstruction.

Here’s the bottom line: taking responsibility isn’t just about owning up to the times we fall short. It’s about owning the gift of life itself and using it to do something meaningful. Life is not just something that happens to us; it’s something we participate in and enhance with every action, decision, and step forward we take.

So, what are you going to do with this gift today?

Now’s the time. Let’s get to work.
